Six Flags Read to Succeed Club
Its that time again! Let’s get the reading fun started. Thanks to the Six Flags Read to Succeed program, our students have the opportunity to earn a Free ticket to Six Flags over Georgia. The requirements are as follows:
- Parents register his/her student(s) online at sixflags.com/books using teacher’s unique code sent home or BK3EA.
- Log six hours of reading on their elog (no printed logs to turn in this year).
- Parents make sure all reading is logged online no later than April 17, 2020.
It’s that easy! Once you log your reading online, I will approve all your hard work and your ticket will arrive before the end of the year. You can find the school code and a reading log for your use below. If you have any other questions, feel free to call or email Mrs. Brewer.
The Birthday Book Club is BACK this year! If you are new to our school and are not sure just what that means, just know it is a fun way to stock our library with new books in honor of your child/children.
It’s really easy to join the Birthday Book Club. Just fill out the form and return it to Mrs. Brewer with payment. Each month, the club members with birthdays falling in that specific month will gather together for a special birthday snack and select the book in which their name will be placed in for all to see. They will also be the very FIRST student to get to check the book out and read it. Don’t worry if you are a June or July birthday… those birthday’s will be paired up with April and May for a fun early birthday celebration.
The sign up form is coming home with the students this week. Be sure to get your student(s) signed up so that we can begin the celebrations a little later this month. If you can’t find a form, or just want to have an extra, click the link below and print.
Our February Birthday Book Club meeting will be February 21st @ 2:00pm in the library. I will take pictures and post on my @eblib Instagram and Twitter Feed.
This year, those that reach their goals (set by the reading teachers) for ALL 4 of the nine week period will qualify for the BIG AR reward at the end of the year. As always, we will continue to announce the Top 20 from each nine week period.
I look forward to this year and all the achievements our students make.
Materials Needed…. Will you help?
The Maker movement in our library is going strong and the students are thoroughly enjoying the opportunities to be creative, work together, and problem solve. In order to build our program and continue to provide new and unique ways for students to create, we need your help. If you have any of the supplies listed below and would like to donate, it would help tremendously. You can call or email Mrs. Brewer or just drop supplies off in the front office. As always, we appreciate your support and look forward to more Maker fun in the second semester!

myON Login Helpful Information
The City of Gadsden has purchased a subscription for our school system for myON, an online library/reading resource. Each student has a login to use that gives them access to almost 6,000 books. That simply is an incredible resource for our students. There are no extra parent subscriptions required, like other online reading resources that are available. Students will be given suggested titles based off of an interest inventory they will complete on their very first log in. They will also complete, periodically, short assessments that test their reading level. This will adjust the recommended titles to those that are best suited for your reader. There are NO grades attached to this reading… just a resource that allows you to watch your child’s reading progression over a period of time.
You can access this by logging into Clever and using your child’s district assigned google username and password. If your child has trouble remembering that username and password, feel free to contact Mrs. Brewer for the information. Below you will find a helpful instruction sheet that will take you step by step on how to log in.
