From some of my earliest remembrances of someone asking me, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I replied that I want to be a mother and a teacher. I am proud to say that I am both. I have three beautiful grown daughters who are making their mark on the world – each in their own way. And I am a teacher – one who has taught for 40 years, 20 of which have been in the Gadsden City Schools System.
I began my college education at the University of Alabama and finished at JSU with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Later, I received a Master’s degree from UAB in Collaborative Education with an additional certification in English as a Second Language.
My faith and family are very important to me. I have leaned on both in my years as a teacher. I have taught in a wide variety of schools and have learned from every class that I have taught. I continue to learn with my students. They often teach me as I teach them and in ways, they would not imagine. I consider this mutually beneficial.
If I am not teaching, I would rather be outside doing just about anything – walking, biking, or working in the yard. I am an avid Alabama football fan, so in the fall you will often hear me conversing about the Tide.
I truly enjoy what I do and put my whole self into it every day. I am blessed to be teaching your children at Eura Brown and look forward to meeting each new group.
